Recent Student Achievements

• Julia Meyer (GVSU BM student) was a winner of the West Michigan Flute Association’s Masterclass Competition and performed for Dominique Kim at the Great Lakes Flute Festival (2025)

• GVSU Flute studio members performed in masterclasses for guest artists Mafer Guglielmina, Daniel Cueto, and Christian Glascock (2025)

• Several flute studio members perform with ensembles including America’s Hometown Band, Mississinewa Valley Band, East Central Indiana Chamber Orchestra, Central Indiana Flute Choir, and Windsong Flute Ensemble

• Multiple Gold Ratings at District and State Levels for Indiana Solo & Ensemble Contest (2019-2023)

• Four students accepted into Ball State University music major or minor program

• Two students accepted into Illinois State University music major or minor program

• First chair of Youth Symphony Orchestra of East Central Indiana (2019)

• Placement in local and regional honor bands in Illinois and Indiana
